在世界各地滑板藝術往往是最有趣、生動而繽紛的，多半象徵著流行、青少年、街頭文化，更特別是與塗鴉及刺青藝術的緊密結合，同時位居當代插畫藝術重要地位，當中頗具知名度的藝術家，例如 Joshua Davis、D*Face Art、Gary Baseman….在潮流時尚圈經常可以看見他們的作品出現。

因此城市角落並不難看到滑板成為個人個性化的象徵以外，對於極限運動的態度儼然成為城市移動藝術的一部份。

然而如何多彩堅固、不易破壞，並能快速吸引路人的目光，從手工繪製到雷射打印或是雕刻，甚至是噴漆...是創作者經常使用的手法，當中最常見的材料便是楓木用的聚氨酯塗料(polyurethane coating), 由此可見滑板上的插圖創作技術也是非常專業的一門學問。
